For customised petwear, sewing patterns for vests, one-piece garments, two-leg and four-leg styles, dresses and raincoats cover different parts of the body and need different measurements. Choose by movement, intended use and required coverage before deciding between a basic custom style and a fixed designer style.

Create a dog sewing pattern by measurements

To create a dog sewing pattern by measurements, measure in centimetres while the dog is standing naturally and follow the help text for each field. Neck, chest and back length form the basis of most styles; garments with legs also request leg circumference, length or spacing. Do not substitute an S, M or L label for actual measurements.

Check movement before the final cut

For a first attempt, use an inexpensive fabric with behaviour similar to the final material. Check comfortable movement at the neck, chest and leg roots, and remove the garment if the pet shows distress or restricted movement.
