Start with four core body measurements

The custom vest uses chest, neck, back length and front-leg gap. Measure with the pet standing naturally and keep the tape close without compressing the coat. Record front-leg gap as the horizontal distance between the inside edges of the front legs.

Record your pet's actual measurements first, then consider the stretch of your chosen fabric. Stretchier fabric may call for an adjustment to circumference inputs; do not scale back length or leg gaps along with them. Recheck the neckline after choosing a collar

This page offers Peter Pan, stand, shirt and sailor collars with their relevant controls. After changing the collar, review the neckline attachment, front-back orientation, back length and front-leg openings. A collar choice should not be used to disguise an incorrect neck measurement.

Test fit with the chosen collar thickness

Collar layers and stiffness change how the neckline feels. Verify print scale and test in material close to the final choice, checking breathing, head lowering, turning and walking. Remove the garment immediately and add room if the pet is uncomfortable.

Each payment includes two PDF exports for the same pattern style. Make a test garment after the first export. If a measurement was wrong or the fabric stretch makes the fit too loose or tight, recheck and adjust the relevant measurements, then use the remaining export for the revised pattern.
