Start with four core body measurements
The custom vest uses chest, neck, back length and front-leg gap. Measure with the pet standing naturally and keep the tape close without compressing the coat. Record front-leg gap as the horizontal distance between the inside edges of the front legs.
Recheck the neckline after choosing a collar

Test fit with the chosen collar thickness
Collar layers and stiffness change how the neckline feels. Verify print scale and test in material close to the final choice, checking breathing, head lowering, turning and walking. Remove the garment immediately and add room if the pet is uncomfortable.
