Body measurements used by the trench coat

This hoodless trench coat uses chest, neck and back length. Measure in centimetres while the pet is standing naturally and follow the help beside each field. Keep the tape close to the body without compressing the coat or restricting breathing.

Record your pet's actual measurements first, then consider the stretch of your chosen fabric. Stretchier fabric may call for an adjustment to circumference inputs; do not scale back length or leg gaps along with them. Review coverage in the pattern preview

The trench coat draft regenerates when inputs change. Before export, review the back coverage, neck fit and belt placement for the intended use, then follow the page instructions and verify the print scale. Allow suitable room for layers and movement when fitting a test garment.

Test the fit before committing to final material

Make a lower-cost test version in material with similar behaviour and check the neck and front-leg area while the pet raises and lowers its head, turns and walks. Coat fabric thickness, layers worn underneath and closures all affect the fit, so choose materials and construction methods for the intended use.

Each payment includes two PDF exports for the same pattern style. Make a test garment after the first export. If a measurement was wrong or the fabric stretch makes the fit too loose or tight, recheck and adjust the relevant measurements, then use the remaining export for the revised pattern.
